A big cousin...

096This is a blog for Melissa...  I have to say that she is a better cousin than I ever was for all of my little cousins or even to my siblings.  I was so surprised that there were times when she would just be sitting there playing with the little kids.  Jake officially loves her and loves to look at pictures of her.  So, thank you Melissa.  You are the new official favorite big cousin for Jake.  He loves you so much!

Miss teaching Jake all her mad football skills.021

On Wednesday it was really just us and the David Dapelo family so we spent the day letting the kids do "craft time".  It was fun to watch, sort of a disaster, and they had a lot of fun on their last day together.

001 Grace came by after school to play with Lily so she was in on the fun.  Layla didn't like other people messing with her creativeness so she hid off to the side until they decided to make "cake" with all four playdough colors and some crayons/colored pencils.

Not sure what Jake is thinking...  He really liked pulling his ears out like this.  I guess it's the new thing.  Jake only wanted to spend time with Micah.  He is infatuated with babies and wants to spend all his time with anyone smaller than himself.   010

The LATE Mothers Day brunch!

Ruthie, Johnny and I took Mama and Daddy out to brunch the day they left to go back to Minnesota.  We weren't able to be with her on Mothers Day so we decided to take her out.  We had a little trouble trying to find a place open on Memorial Day but it happened.  It was fun to spend a little quiet time together and chatting.  We love you so much Mom.  You are the greatest!

118 The usual "what is Ruthie doing expression"...does anyone ever know?119

The lady of the hour!  She REALLY needed her coffee!120   Jake was not into sitting and behaving.  He was one of the kids that everyone looks at in a restaurant and wishes would leave...SOON!121

Day of the Ordination!

Sunday finally arrived!  We went to the regular Memorial Day service in the morning and then, after lunch at Pizza Hut got ready for the ordination service at 3:00.  We had a wonderful time being able to share something so special with all of the family minus a few that we wish could have been there and were unable to make it...

The service was really nice and we were so appreciative of the support that the people in the church showed us.  We had a really nice dinner after the service and got a chance to talk to a lot of people.

Lily was not digging the picture taking experience so she wasn't in some of them.  The Lee family minus Esther...We missed you!

046 It is a little hard to get the whole Dapelo family so this is as good as it gets!

The Water Escapades!

These pictures are from the zoo too but I wanted to put them all on their own blog because we haven't ever been to the zoo in Fort Wayne without this being the biggest hit of the trip!  The kids love it and it was a nice finish to the day.  The girls had so much fun playing in the water...It was so fun watching them!

Picture day!  We got everyone together and had a picture taken of the whole clan.  Of course none of us took our cameras so we have no pictures to document the madness that occurred that morning.  Trying to get Matt's family of six, our family of four, David's family of five and gramma, papa, and gramma Jackie all looking and smiling was not the easiest feat...Thank goodness for Photoshop!  Yes, believe it or not the photographer said that she would photoshop the pictures so that everyone is smiling in the pictures!  CRAZY!  Too bad we can't do that with everything.

039After the infamous pictures we took off for Fort Wayne to go and visit the zoo.  After a quick lunch at the BK we got to the madhouse.  The weather was beautiful so everyone in Fort Wayne was there.  It was a complete madhouse.  There were people everywhere we looked...  Note to all of you in Fort Wayne, think twice before entering the Indonesian Rainforest. 006 Once you enter you are trapped in the abyss of people.  You only go as fast as the person in front of you.  After a near mishap with Matt and his newly discovered claustrophobia we made it out and took the kids on the worlds fastest merry-go-round as a thank you for sucking it up!  An hour and a half home and we were all ready to crash I think.

THE merry go round!

Lauren Jo's 2nd birthday was a momentous occasion.  We did a day of relaxation for the adults and a day of swimming, playing with cousins, and of course a birthday party for Lauren.  She had a blast opening all of her presents and all the kids loved the birthday theme...BUBBLES!

She got lots of bubbles for her birthday and the gifts kept all the kids busy all weekend.  We had a lot of fun!

008 The birthday girl at the pool!  Obviously she has a plan for havoc...Look at that face!

If the t-shirt fits...012

The much anticipated Barney cake....

The bubble fest!

Our Week of Madness!

Last week was one crazy day after another...I have to start at the beginning so there may be a few posts.

On Wednesday I went in to the hospital experiencing some cramps so after sitting there on the monitors for about 4 hours they cut me loose and said that I wasn't to go back to work or do anything that was strenuous.  Can I just say that getting this news as I am trying to pack up our life to move was not what I had planned.  Fortunately I have an incredible mother.  She took some extra days off from work and rode a bus for 16 hours out here to help me pack and get ready for the arrival of everyone else.

125She was an incredible help to all of us here.  I could never have been ready without her.

So, THANK YOU MOM!!! You are the best and I love you so much.

End of Kindermusik!

The kids had their end of year party for Kindermusik.  They had a really great time this year playing with all the kids and making lots of friends.  They did crafts, ate all kinds of snacks and played lots of games.  We probably won't do it again since we are moving but it has been fun for the kids to have some fun activity time during the week with other kids their ages.

A few pictures of the evening...002

All in all, a really fun evening.  The kids had a ball and we had a nice evening of fun kid time away from work, studying, packing, etc.

Dancing with the Stars

So, Lily and I like to watch DWTS together.  She aspires to be a dancer when she gets older, and I love watching the ballroom dancing so we sit down together on Monday nights and enjoy it.

Last night however was a different story.  Lily has always loved the princess dresses that are sparkly until last night.  Jason and Edyta came out to dance and Lily immediately turns, looks at me and says, "Oh my goodness Mommy, she forgot her dress!  We don't go outside without a dress or a shirt on do we?"  Joe and I have had many discussions about the state of undress that some of these professional dancers are in for these dances and it was surprising to me that the three year old wasn't happy that she didn't have a full dress on.  I have to say that after some laughter I was very proud that she was shocked and appalled to see someone in something like that.  Kind of makes me feel like we are doing something right.  So, for your viewing pleasure I have posted the video of the dance that shocked the three year old.

The Zoo

We knew we were going to have bad weather on Mothers Day so we went to the zoo on Saturday instead.  It was beautiful weather, warm but not too hot and not windy at all.  The kids had a blast seeing all the animals that were out.

Both of the kids have an obsession with the water animals, the hippo, polar bears, penguins, dolphins, seals, fish, etc.  I think if we end up near an aquarium that will be the way to go instead of the zoo pass.

We had a lot of fun, the kids had a blast, and we were exhausted when we got home.   All in all it was a successful day.

Jake liked watching the giraffes walk 006around and stick their heads over the fence.  Ultimately he wanted to follow his shadow around the zoo.  He would get a little irritated if he lost it.009

The coolest hippo in the world!

The Allergy Testing

We took the day off of work and school to take Jake into the allergist to get his skin test done.  I had heard from a lot of people that the skin test is really hard on the kid and parent so I had Joe come along to help me with Jake.  Fortunately it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  He hived from all of the pricks but once they did the measurements they decided that he was only allergic to some things...grasses, pollens, trees, dust mites, etc.  Fortunately there were no problems with pets or molds (as we tend to live in OLD houses)!  The house that we are currently living in has got to be at the least a hundred and ten or twenty years old.  So, we are relieved that the  house is NOT what is hurting him.

005We went over to BW3 for a consolation dinner.  The kids love it there because they are still young enough to just want to push all the buttons on the arcade games without actually wanting to put money in to them.  They had a lot of fun and LOVED the temp tattoos that they put with the kiddie menu and crayons.  Joe, Jake and Lily looked like pirates once they were done with all of them.

Jake didn't want to show off his "ink".  He was more interested in sticking the corn dog onto his finger, like a lollipop.

All in all it was a really fun night and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  By the time we got home the kids were tired, bonus, so the evening was a success!003
