The missing blog...

My children have a passion for paint.  I don't know why or how but it is the favorite thing to do so I have to make sure to do it somewhat often.  When Auntie Ruthie was here she did a painting with them that I plan to hang on the wall because it is so beautiful!

It was lots of fun watching them, not so much fun cleaning them.  I will spare you the nastiness that was the bathwater when they were done.  All I can say is that it was somewhere in the brownish, pinkish, greenish, yellow family.  I  know, now you want to see it.

Anyway, the final project was beautiful!

The weather outside is frightful....

Today was the Christmas program at the church.  We went to bed last night with a wind chill advisory and woke up this morning with ATROCIOUS weather.  It was -5* and the wind chill was around -30*.  IT WAS SO COLD!!!

I had to run out to Walmart to pick up a tape for the video camera and truly felt like I was only wearing a plastic bag.  The wind was out of control.  The only people in church today were the parents of the kids that were in the program.  We had a good time though so that is what counts.

005

Yes...Lily was an angel.  She did not, however act angelic.  She didn't sing, she didn't do any of the motions to the songs and she didn't stand quietly when she was supposed to.  I guess that we can forgive her.  She IS 3 and she looked so cute!014 012

After that we took a little drive around to see the damage around town.  We saw017 trees broken from the weight of the ice and then the horrible winds last night.  I think we have the wind advisory in effect until midnight tomorrow.  Hopefully it will only last until then.015

This was just down the street from our house.  When we got out of the car there were chunks of ice that looked like giant pieces of glass all over the ground.  It was all getting knocked off of the trees. It kind of made you feel unsafe about standing outside.

Christmas Open House

We had a wonderful time with members from our church.  We had a Christmas open house yesterday and enjoyed being able to spend some time visiting with those that braved the elements to come out.

Lily played "Sleeping Beauty" in her Cinderella dress.  It was pretty fun.007 005 Jake was a little tired.  The clock struck 5:30 and he

was walking between the kitchen and the dining room with a half eaten cookie, dropped the cookie, went to pick it up and decided to just lie down.  He passed out cold right there in the doorway.  We all had a good laugh at his expense...

Puzzle for you

Joe gave this to me the other day and it was a stumper.

Connect all 9 dots without lifting your pen from the paper using only 4 lines.  Let me know if you get it.  It only counts if you haven't ever done it before.

Enjoy.  No cheating.

Just a little icicle...

We had an ice storm last night.  It happened while we were all sleeping so that was a good thing.  When we woke up this morning we were greeted by the sound of rain and a whitish blue tinge over everything.  I walked outside to see what it looked like and was greeted, not by rain, but by the melting of all of the ice that had accumulated.  It is almost 30 degrees outside so I am thinking that the ice will be gone before too long.

In the meantime...I took a bunch of pictures because I am so amazed at how beautiful everything looks.  Even the blades of  grass had ice on them.  What a wonderful world God created for us to live in!!008002

So sad...

I have a post that seems to refuse to load.  I have been trying to get it on for a day now and it just doesn't want to work.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I really want it up because it is so cute and it just won't cooperate. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know. It tells me that it times out while trying to load.

TRAGEDY!

Santa Baby!

We had Santa at our house last night! The local fire department runs a fundraiser for different charities (this year it happened to be Kiwanis) and one of the firemen dresses as Santa and comes to your house in a fire truck.  It was so much fun!  We had some of the Sunday School kids over for pizza and Santa.  Lily was so excited and informed "Santa" that all she wanted was a Barbie Mariposa doll.  All three of my kids sat on his lap.  After everyone had done the Santa thing they all got to go for a ride around the block in a fire truck.  I don't know what was more exciting.  Jake was tired after running around the house with Lily and Evan so he didn't make it on the truck.  All in all, a very fun evening.

3 months and counting...

Hannah is 3 months old now.  She is getting so big! Everyday seems to bring fun, new tricks.  She has got to be the most good-natured baby EVER!  There is nothing she loves more than to be looking up at someone and laughing.  She has mastered the art of trying to reach for things now.  She loves to grab faces and if you get close to her she is more than happy to slobber on your face! :) We lay her on the ground (heavily supervised) and she will try to grab at the toys that hang down in front of her.  She is such a sweetie.002016

F-R-E-E-Z-I-N-G!!!!

Ruthie and I took the kids to Champaign to do a little shopping and to meet up with her friend Kelly.  Kelly was there at the hospital the night that Lily was born and we haven't seen her since so it was nice to see her and for her to see Lily...Deep breath. WOW! That was a little too long. :)

After spending a few hours in the mall we got the kids all bundled up because it was colder than it should have been, got out to the car, buckled them all in, got in, shut the door, started the car, and then.....NOTHING!

The van was D.E.A.D. dead.  Jake was crying because it was cold.  Lily was laughing because Jake was crying.  Hannah was doing nothing, thank goodness. Ruthie was looking at me like I was joking and I was trying not to start crying.

I flagged down 2 nice boys angels who were much nicer than they needed to be.  They were so great.  Not only did they jump the car for me, they scraped my windshield and waited for us to leave.  Who ever said that chivalry was dead? I am so thankful for them.  Ruthie and I were frantically looking through purses to see if there was anything that we could give them for being so great.  I thank God that they were there for us.

After about 3 seconds on the road we figured out that the wipers weren't working, the fluid was frozen in the lines and we had a 45 min-1 1/2 hour drive home in the dark while it was snowing.  Anyway, it was an adventure.  We survived.  We made it home and all of us are alive.  Praise God!

Not Anonymous Anymore

We got this nativity set from my mother.  It was in the free bin at her store so she gave it to us for the kids to enjoy.  Annnnnnnd, enjoy it they have.

002

Notice the faces...yes. That is purple colored pencil.  Anonymity doesn't please her.

003

Apparently the lambs also needed faces. Isn't baby Jesus cute?? :)

Also, this is how I found Hannah yesterday.  Lily and Jake decided that she just didn't look comfortable enough so they hooked her up.

003She NEEDED a lei, the pillow and the blanket.  Apparently life is not complete without these key elements.

Artery clogging!

We took pictures of Hannah and Jacob yesterday at Penneys.  I don't want to get into that whole experience.  Needless to say, it wasn't wonderful.  After the pictures we went to IHOP for lunch and discovered that Lily will probably not be long in this world.

This is why.....005

Yes, that is BUTTER!

I don't even know what to say...here are some other pictures of the day.

Lily really loves her eggs and Jake is a BIG fan of non-dairy whipped toppings...

Comfort Food

001

It has been a dreary day today.  The weather wasn't terribly cold but we had a dark day and freezing rain so White Chicken Chili sounded AWESOME! It was so tasty.  003 004

Notice the part of the meal that the kids were interested in.  They just don't appreciate good food. :)

Also, what kind of mother would I be if I didn't show off the littlest one?? She is so cute right now.  Almost always happy!   She is all cozy and ready for bed.  Pictures tomorrow.  She has to rest up and look beautiful for them! :)

Deck the halls...

...and everything else.  We were finally all home together last night so we got the tree filled with ornaments.  The kids were so excited.  They had hot chocolate, peppermint sticks, and the ornaments.  No night could be more fun.  Joe may not have agreed with me though seeing as he had the stomach flu all day and all last night.  Fortunately he is feeling a lot better now and I think he is on the road to recovery.

Our little Charlie Brown tree is done.  We are ready for Christmas.  The kids are really happy and I love having everything so festive.  We'll see how long the ornaments stay on the tree.  They like them on so much I don't know if they will take them off. We'll see...
