As promised. A recap of THE TRIP.
Joe and I picked up Laurie at the airport on Saturday. Her flight had been delayed a little so we decided to eat dinner on the way home instead of waiting. We decided to take the kids to Chuck E Cheese (we had some coupons) and figured that they would enjoy their time there. We had fun watching them play, seeing drama unfold at other tables, and of course watching the Chuck and his “band”. Jake was all about the slide while Lily preferred trying to play the games.
We left Monday morning on our little trip. It was a 689 mile drive to Germantown, Maryland. We went for a conference as delegates from Faith. It was a lot of fun to see people from Napoleon that we hadn’t seen in a long time as well as people from other churches in our region. We had some wonderful Bible Studies and some time to discuss current issues. All in all, a great trip.
The conference ended on Wednesday in the late afternoon. We switched hotels and quickly made our way over to the Metro Station so that we could get as much time in DC as we possibly could. We were able to go and see….
Funny enough, we were really tired and absolutely ravenous so we were looking all over for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat. We passed several restaurants but quickly discovered that they were well out of our price range. We were walking along and all of a sudden, just happened to stumble across the White House. It was the weirdest thing. Joe was saying that he just couldn’t get over the fact that it was right in the center of the city and it doesn’t seem to be that way when you see pictures of it elsewhere. We did get a chance to see it from the other side as well the next day. Pics of that on the next post.
We never did end up finding food there. We took the metro back to our hotel and ate at a seedy little establishment called JJ Muldoons. A little scary but the food was good and they were open late.
