Car Wash!

Workin’ at the car wash yeah!

Today was the youth car wash fundraiser. They are going to the youth conference in Colorado this year and are trying to raise as much money as they can so that they can all go as inexpensively as possible. We had a great time today, made lots of the green stuff, and had a great time while doing it.

A group picture…

Lily and Jake really enjoyed “washing” all of the cars that came through.

A big shout out to Watseka Ford for hosting it for us. They were AWESOME! Thank you!!  Enjoy some of the MANY pictures that were taken today.

Memorial Day!

Kind of an exhausting drive for Hannah! :) She zonked out pretty quickly on the drive to Milwaukee. We headed out after church to celebrate our girl-Lauren Jo-turning the big 3!!

Hannah is becoming more and more fascinated by her hands…obviously. Lauren was Fancy Nancy in her outfit from Greta. Lily had a few moments of jealousy! See her in the background? Just click on the picture to make it bigger.

Jacob got stories read to him by his daddy and John or as Christie liked to say, “his 2 daddies”.  We enjoyed sitting around and hearing all of the YMCA stories that John and Matt were more than happy to share with us that evening! YIKES! Also, a rousing game of Apples to Apples was in order that evening.

On Monday Matt and Joe worked on ripping apart the front yard with all the older kids while Christie, Melissa, Hannah, and myself took a little trip to the outlet mall and made a not so quick stop at the Coach store! I am now the proud owner of this…

Isn’t it the sweetest little thing you ever did see?? I LOVE it! After some indecision I caved and brought it home with me. (It wanted me to bring it home. I promise!) Christie found some cute little birthday gifts for herself as well… After some DELICIOUS smoked pork sandwiches (thank you Matt!) we got in the car and headed home.

Now to get back into the swing of the every day! Thank you for the great visit Dapelos! As always, we had fun!

Hannah has new tricks! She is VERY into pointing! It is so funny to be walking by her and see her stick her finger out at you with a toothless little grin.

She is also very mobile now. She gets around the house doing her little army crawl. She has surprised me in different rooms of the house! It is so weird to think of the my little 5 lb 15 oz baby being big enough to scoot around everywhere!

She loves painting! She LOVES the sprayer in the sink. I am pretty sure that she is going to be a shower girl.IMG_0783

Last Day!

Yet one more post that I am behind on! Lily’s last day of preschool was Thursday! It seems so weird to think of my oldest “baby” being done with her first year of “school”! I took her in and hung around for a little while to get a class picture and then picked her up later. She was excited to see me but started crying when I told her that she was done. I wonder when kids get over that and start rejoicing on the last day. Anyway, she got over it quickly enough when I gave her this….

Ivana Chandelier is the name…

I got her teacher a little gift and at the gift shop they were giving a webkin with every $15 purchase! So, she got a little treat too!

Someday I will have so much fun blackmailing her with these pictures! :) I love it!

She loves Mrs. Koester so much! I think that was one of the biggest reasons for the tears when we left!

The whole class. Don’t they look like a bunch of trouble makers??????

LOVE Nature!

We have some visitors at our house!

Aren’t they cute? We think that they are baby robins. There are actually TWO nests against our house. One of them has these little tiy ones and the other has birds that are a little bit older and starting to fly.

The kids think they are the coolest thing since sliced bread! (I do too!)

Old Friends!

While in Minnesota we got the opportunity to see some old friends on our way out of town.

Dan, Cassie, and Wes Dulyx! Wes isn’t in the picture and neither are our older kids because of a lack of cooperation. They are expecting a little girl in September so we are eagerly waiting to see pictures of her! We had a great visit with them and hope that it won’t be so long before we see them again!

Happy Mothers Day!

This post is a little late but the way I see it, better late than never!

We had a great time. My mom, Ruthie, and Josh drove out from Minnesota for the weekend. Esther was already here so we had all the girls together with our mom for the first time in around 6 or 7 years. It was so nice to be together! I was the speaker at the mother/daughter banquet at church. We all got dressed up and headed over there with Lily and Hannah. On Saturday I went in to work for a little bit of catch up and my mom went to the Laundromat to do about 8 loads of laundry before the week long trip to Minnesota. Our laundry room flooded while we were at the banquet on Friday night. It was pretty exciting! Anyway, it flooded a second time on Saturday. SO, needless to say we were not thrilled about that situation.

We went to church on Sunday, had a wonderful lunch, took a quick nap and then hit the road for the LOOOOOOOOONG drive to the cities.

Joe and the kids made our day with some beautiful red roses for both my mom and myself. Then he pulled this out.

Growing up my dad always bought my mom, my grandma, and my great-grandma an orchid to wear on Mother’s Day. I remember every year I would look at them and think that they were so beautiful! This year my dad wasn’t able to be with us all on Mother’s Day but Joe pulled out all the stops and had one for both of us. :) I was so excited that he remembered! Thank you so much honey!

My beautiful children! I love them so much!

Family Pics

Just some shots of the family that we took while there. Again, too many to share so I will post the rest on Shutterfly. Check your mail for the email. It will be sometime this week.

These two beautiful young ladies were my flower girls 6 years ago! They have changed so much and are becoming beautiful young women!!

The Clan!!!

The Graduation

We just got back from a fabulous trip out to Minnesota.  We went out to celebrate the graduation of my cousin Cheryl and my brother Johnny from AFLBS. It was a wonderful time of visiting, playing games, family, and eating. It was nice to see my Aunt Gracie and Uncle Jeff w/family. I haven’t seen the since before we had kids. It was fun to introduce them to each other. My Uncle Johnny and his kids were also there. We had not seen each other since December of 2005. Of course we took WAY too many pictures. I would love to share them all but don’t think that you would appreciate that.

Here are a few…

Mall of America

While in MN we went to the Mall of America. If you haven’t been there you should go once and then never again. Lego land was a HUGE hit! They made their own little cars to race and Lily was really proud of the one she made. I though Jake would be more into it than Lily but I was definitely wrong on that one!  The kids LOVED the rides…they went on a Dora ride, a Diego ride, and a Swiper ride. Are you sensing the theme??!! We had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Jake didn’t love the storms that blew through there every 22 minutes. We did manage to make it through lunch! Lily thought that the monkeys were truly something to behold. Hannah was amazed by the whole experience. We topped off the trip with a quick jaunt into the American Girl store. Lily immediately felt like I had deprived her of the life that she was born to have because I had not purchased all of the dolls for her. Hannah tried to rip EVERY baby off of the displays and Jake really wanted the little side-by-side double stroller for the twins that Lily was convinced that we were buying for her and Jake. We enjoyed watching the hair salon employees work their magic on some truly heinous hair and Lily wanted to have her hair done by them.

All in all, a GREAT trip and they did so well. We did leave empty handed so that was a bonus for mommy and the wallet!

Jake at Rainforest Cafe during the storm. You laugh but he spent half of lunch like this! :)

Hannah desperately wanting the baby in the case. She was in her idea of heaven when we walked in there!

8 Months!

Here we are at the 8 month mark! I can’t believe how quickly time is FLYING by!! She is so big now. I see her and it makes me a little sad that my little baby is becoming a little girl. :)

She is absolutely hysterical. There isn’t enough time to talk about all of the little quirks that make her so special so I will keep it to just a few.

-She loves to clap. Everything deserves applause. When Johnny graduated and everyone started to clap she was right there with everyone else. getting her cheering down.IMG_4542

-She has discovered that the mouth is incredible. She can make the funniest noises. Kissing, clicking, raspberries, snorting like a little pig, panting, popping her jaw…the list goes on.

-She still LOVES to be roughhoused with. She loves to be thrown up in the air and hung upside down. She is a wild child. She likes to fling her entire body towards whatever it is that she wants.IMG_4554

-She ADORES babies. She wants any dolly that she latches her beady little eyes on. She likes to try to pull out their eyelashes and bite their heads but she also likes to cuddle with them! Thus, the issues at the American Girl store.

-She is SUPER sensitive. If you raise your voice in the room she will burst into tears. She can be calmed down instantly with a little hug or cuddle but she does NOT like the loud noises.

Da Da Da Da

That’s right everyone…the baby is talking! :) And by talking I mean saying dada. She is so cute!

I am pretty sure that Joe is thrilled even though his first response was to try to get her to say mama. What a sweet baby she is!

That is L.O.V.E. Look at that face! You can decide if that is about Joe or Hannah. :)

Fun Times

Joe and I went into Chicago on Saturday night to have dinner on Devon Ave. with Matt and Christie. It was a nice ending to a very busy day. We went to a little restaurant, Viceroy of India, walked around, went into a little bookshop that had all kinds of fascinating little things from India, went into a delicious smelling Indian grocery store and bought….

Two 7 oz bags of Indian spices, one bag of Channa Chur, and a monstrous bag of dal. So exciting!

I was also floored by this…

A 7 oz bag of turmeric powder cost $1.99. A 0.9 oz jar of turmeric at the local grocery store cost me around $2.50. Now some of you may say…who would ever need that much?

I make curry at least 3 times a month if not more. One of the little jars lasts maybe for two meals worth. So, needless to say, I was excited!

We also had craft time on Sunday and this was the product of that.

Flash cards for Lily and Jake. I got the Zooballoo cartridge for the cricut and couldn’t wait to try out some of the little projects that I have had swirling around in my brain for a while now.

It was great! Lily and Jake love the flashcards and I had a blast doing them. I love it when being crafty serves a purpose.
