Game Day

Lilys first soccer game was today! It was so fun to get out there and see all the other parents.

The team did great. The score was 3-1 Huskies. Lily was excited to have been on the winning team even though she got VERY discouraged several times during the game. Her best position would have to be goalie…

One of her best friends, Kamryn, was on the opposing team. They decided that they wanted to play together so Coach Joe spent some time separating them. :)

Photo Shoot!

A big thank you to Ruthie who took pictures of the kids for me while she was here! It saved me a trip to Penneys and gave me pictures that are more natural and much more real than any pictures I could have gotten through a studio.

Thank you!

Just a few pictures

We had a fun time visiting with Ben during his 11 hour layover at OHare. We took him over to Giordano’s for some Chicago style pizza before he left for Pakistan for the next 4 years. It was a really nice visit!

Saying goodbye-always a downer….

Thank you Ruthie for the beautiful pictures…

11 Months

“Little” Banana is already 11 months old! I am having a really hard time wrapping my head around it. She doesn’t seem big enough to be almost a year old.

She loves to do all kinds of big girl things now! She was in the bathroom while Jake was sitting on the little potty and decided that she wanted to join in the fun so she took off her skirt and as soon as he got off, she got on and believe it or not she went potty. Of course I thought it was going to be a one time deal but she continues to surprise us and goes several times a day. I did find her sitting on the potty fully clothed and clapping at one point.

She loves to eat quesadillas and she loves to drink water. She spends most of her time at dinner shredding her food instead of eating it. She is very sensitive so when she throws things over the side of the high chair onto the floor and gets reprimanded she gets VERY emotional.

Anytime she sees a sippy cup she freaks out and makes this face….

She loves to drink out of cups except when she is tired. She is down to one nap a day now and is desperately trying to walk. She was upset with me the other night because I was lying down with her and she wanted me to walk her so she stood up in bed, grabbed my shirt and started trying to pull me up! Have I mentioned that she is a VERY determined little girl?  She has finally sprouted one more tooth on the top that is all the way through and she has 3 little white bumps that are almost through.

She says Mama, Dada, Baba, and we all swear that she said Jay for Jake but we haven’t heard it again. She is still a little clingy but is starting to come out of her shell and be more social again. She still loves Jake with a passion and will just crawl over to wherever he is and sit on him. He is VERY tolerant of her and will usually say after a few minutes have gone by… “hey, Hannah’s on me! Get her off!” I don’t know if it is just a delayed reaction or if he doesn’t care at first and then gets tired of it. :)

More to come on her next month! I can’t believe that she will be 1!

Happy Birthday to YOU!

We celebrated two birthdays today! My mom and Ruthie. They don’t actually share a birthday but we did celebrate them together this year. Ruthie was 23 on the 6th and Mama was never younger on the 11th. :)

We had a wonderful day…I worked the early part and when I got home we made a wonderful curry smorgasbord. I know that sounds a little crazy to be mixing cultures like that but bear with me.

We had a tomato curry, vegetable curry, chicken curry, potato bhaji, delicious dal, vinegar salad and rice. For those of you not familiar with the lingo see pictures below…

We also had a rhubarb pie that Joe had been dying for, a banana cream pie, and Ruthies choice…strawberry pie.

After a delicious dinner we did presents-the photobook for Mama and the 365 album for Ruthie! Hopefully they both get lots of use out of their gifts. We also enjoyed some ice cream sundaes with pie before bed.

SO.MUCH.FUN!!!! I love birthdays. Even when they are not my own.

My Mom

Today is my mother’s birthday! I have been so blessed to have a mother that I can call a friend. She has taught me how to be a mother and continues to be a role model. Thank you for all that you do!

I love you!

Happy Birthday Ruthie Toothie!

Happy birthday to you Ruthie! I hope that you had a WONDERFUL birthday! I love you so much!

Bye Auntie Esther!

Esther left to go to Minnesota for the Holy Spirit Conference and my mom was here with the kids. We weren’t sure how it would go because Hannah has been super clingy and needy.

They went to the library for toddler/preschool storytime and played with lots of water there.

Then, Hannah had ice cream for the first time…I think. I can’t remember these things anymore. :)

Then we saw Jake’s awesome sunburn from playing outside for too long with no shirt.

Hannah got her toes painted and thoroughly enjoyed trying to eat the polish off!

All in all a fun day!

Some funny little things…

Jake has been wanting some dress up clothes for awhile. He was looking a little too longingly at Lily’s princess dresses so Auntie Esther took pity on him and bought him some Superman jammies-complete with removable cape. He didn’t want to take them off for the first 2 or 3 days!

Hannah has a new trick now. She likes to open her mouth wider than one would think is humanly possible whenever she is thirsty. It is pretty funny to see her panting.

Her other favorite thing right now is Lily’s sunglasses. She loves to wear them. I am not sure if it is the feeling of glasses on her face or if it is that everything looks PINK! (Don’t look at the filthy shirt!)

Grandma is HERE!!

Hurray! We have a grandma here! The kids were so excited to have a grandparent to spoil them rotten. To all the grandparents that weren’t able to be here…you are MISSED!!

The kids love to be read to. By kids I mean the older ones. Hannah still prefers to experiment with her independence. I love the whole “with you but not with you” phase!
