It is craft time in the Dapelo house!
I have all of these
and am beyond excited about using them!
Finished products will follow!
Today marks the end of the birthday festivities for a certain Miss Lily Dapelo. She had her friends over from school and had a really great time running around with them. I am tired. The house is mostly put back together again and we are in the process of recovering from the sugar overload.
First we painted suncatchers. There were lots to be painted and many willing hands.
The food situation. Some healthy, some not so healthy. The kids were able to decorate their own cupcakes with sprinkles and other such delights. That has been on “the LIST” that Lily keeps running of things that she perpetually wants at her birthday party. (In case you were wondering, they drank pink lemonade because Lily desperately wanted a Pinkalicious party.) After the decorating was over and the eating commenced we read the Pinkalicious book! All the girls were practically reciting it!
The decor, the close up, and the favors.
The girls all together. She got a LOT of Barbie stuff, she was not sad about that AT ALL!! She is one very happy 5 year old!
The face of the little sister at 4:45 after too much sugar and NO NAP!! She was just a little tired!
Jake has been sneaking the pink peeps ever since everyone left. I am a little concerned about the sleeping situation tonight. Hopefully he will go into sugar shock and pass out!
One- found this on the floor this morning.
Found out from Lily that she put it there so Jake would slip on it. Where that came from, I don’t know. They both found it hysterical to say the least. We all got a good laugh out of that one.
Two- Jake pulled the drawers out of Lily’s dresser in order to climb up it. Unfortunately today was laundry day and the dresser was pretty much empty. It just couldn’t hold the weight of a 3 1/2 year old boy and tipped.
Good News: He jumped off so it rocked back to the wall instead of landing on his noggin.
Bad news: All of Lily’s breakable treasures were on top of it and we had a few casualties. The saddest of all being this.
The angel that Lily got from her godparents for her baptism. Needless to say after making sure that there was no permanent damage to the children I was VERY upset with them for messing with the furniture. I have successfully glued her back together and am only missing one little piece now. I am planning to thoroughly sweep in the morning (read: pull out all the furniture and send the kids under the bed) so that we can bring her back to her original glory. The other breakages were things that I do not necessarily consider treasures, although my daughter does.
Note: Joe is currently trying to figure out how to anchor the dresser somehow so that this doesn’t happen again for all of you wondering why we are such careless parents. Truly, I had no idea that he was heavy enough to topple it over. It is a wood dresser for crying out loud!
Off to bed!
I have to preface this post by saying that the kids don’t usually have a week long birthday. Somehow, this year we have had (so far) 5 days of birthday for Lily. She has gotten a gift, package, card with something in it, every day since Saturday. Unfortunately it is not ending soon because she still has a party/get together with friends on Saturday. Jacob is kind of fed up with the whole experience and has been asking daily if it is his turn yet.
First is the card from the Grandparents Lee. She got a stack of cash that she is just itching to spend. My mom thought that she might enjoy a little shopping spree with her very own money so we are going to do that possibly Sunday. She wants to do it after the party so that she doesn’t get 2 of the same thing. Clearly, common sense is present! :)
She got a Fancy Nancy dress from Auntie Esther for her and for her monkey. Unfortunately, Hannah is about the same size as Monkey is and thinks that the dress is for her. Lily agreed to let Hannah borrow it when Monkey isn’t wearing it. :) So cute!
The rest of the day was spent watching movies, playing and then doing the lenten dinner and service.
I can’t believe that my baby is 5 now. She seems to be getting very big, very quickly and I am so confused as to how I should feel about the whole thing. I love to see her mature and get older but I miss all of the cute baby things about her.
The eternal crisis of the parent!
So, Happy Birthday Bug! I love you so much!
I know. It’s weird to be blogging about my own birthday. I just have a few pics! :)
The chocolate cake from Lily’s birthday with the cousins. Love it!
We went to Applebees for dinner. Clearly Jake was not in a picture taking mood but I wasn’t interested in taking one alone so here we are. Crabby son and all.
Joe asked me what I wanted to do on my special day and I chose Target. Some may think that strange but quite honestly, I love it. It is a therapy for me. Even just walking around Target makes me happy.
I had a GREAT day, from breakfast in bed (thanks family!!) to hanging with the kids, to tasty dinner followed by tasty dessert, to retail therapy! I am excited that my year of being 29 has started out this fun!
We met them at Red Robin first for some lunch. The kids enjoyed seeing the “red chicken”.
Then we took a little trip over to Build-a-Bear where Lily got to make her first bear ever! She was obviously excited!
The girls with their stash! Thank you so much to Auntie Christie, Uncle Matt, and all the cousins for such a great gift. I hear “Single Ladies” all day and then even at night because she sleeps with it and occasionally will roll on top of Tiana’s hand. :) She LOVES it!
Then, home for cupcakes. The girls enjoyed Tiana cupcakes and I enjoyed a chocolate, chocolate, chocolate cake. :) Happy Birthday to ME!
Saying goodbye after church… Madeline and Lily.
Jake and “his” Lauren Jo.
We finally have some nice weather so the kids and I went into the backyard on Wednesday and had a picnic on the grass. Hannah was in her element! I don’t think the poor girl knows what it is like to be outside without a coat because she was kind of panicking a little as we walked out without it. :)
They had fun playing on part of the swingset (the slide DESPERATELY needs to be hosed down) and running around. Jake and Lily were just taking turns going up and down the ladders and playing in the rubber pit with their shovels and a wheelbarrow. Hannah was being the swing Nazi. She had a mini panic attack anytime she had to get off so that one of the others could use it.
A picture is worth a thousand words so here are some pics…
Well, I thought I would get all caught up on the pictures this week. That way it won’t be so incredibly long next week. I also took a picture of each side this time.
Week 8 (I put in a paper that Lily brought home from school after putting it into an 8 1/2x11 page protector. I want it to have things from our lives and the MANY things she brings home are a big part of that.)
Week 10 (This week I had a lot of pictures that I really liked from Josh and Ruthie’s visit and was having a hard time choosing what to put in so I threw in a 12x12 page protector with 4x6 slots and created an extra page for all those photos that I loved.)
Week 11 (Don’t mind the blank card on the first page. I just need to fill it in with the number of weeks that I am. Forgot to do that before taking the picture! Oooops.)
That is it… All caught up and current through this week. That is a relief.
