July 4th

Happy 4th of July!! (late)

We had a really fun 4th. We had passed out flyers at the parade announcing the free soda, popsicles, and popcorn at the church to everyone before the fireworks and actually had a lot of people show up to see them. It was a lot of fun to just hang out in lawn chairs outside and watch people playing games, visiting, and of course watching the fireworks show.

We had a wonderful dinner (thank you Joe!) on the bbq and then Jacob was so tired that he passed out at dinner so he missed the whole event but he is so sensitive to noise that I think it was probably for the best. Lily spent the evening running back and forth between us and her friend Elena and Hannah  fell asleep just before the fireworks started and then woke up when they started and was totally enraptured by them. She didn’t have trouble with the noise at all!

We usually do sparklers with the kids but with Jake already sleeping we decided to save them for another night. That was fun too. This year we didn’t really have any burn casualties, which is always a good thing. I think that the kids really enjoyed them.

Yes, I know that the last one is blurry but honestly, it was pitch dark, neither one of them wanted to hold still, and I am fairly certain that Hannah was hanging on me at the time. I think that it just goes to show that my children are in perpetual motion. They were all upset when we wrapped it up and called it a night. We still have some more left so maybe we will do them another night. When the mosquitoes aren’t the size of eagles. And I am not uncomfortably pregnant. And it isn’t hotter than a little red wagon outside.
