The Shedd Aquarium.

We decided to take a little day trip to Chicago to visit the Shedd Aquarium on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. There were only about a thousand people there but we had a really fun time and enjoyed seeing all the different things.
We had a little drama in the morning with the kids getting sick and doing an emergency room run at 2:30 in the morning but we still ended up going on our little trip.
After we were done at Shedd we took a little walk into the city and saw Buckingham Fountain, ate lunch at Bennigans and then proceeded to walk back. On our way back we stopped at the garden next door to the Art Institute. The last time that we were there Lily was only 3 or 4 months old so it was kind of fun being there with all of the kids. Things sure have changed in the last few years! We finished out our day by walking along Lakeshore. It was so nice to walk by the lake and see all the boats.
Some pictures.

I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a beautiful day!

The Oceanarium.
Seriously.
Water inside and then the lake outside. How beautiful.

Waiting for the show to start. Patiently I might add.

Look at those eyes!

This is the face of someone not thrilled to have to give his sister a “ride” in the boat.

There was lots of water. Imagine that. Water at an aquarium. Who would have thunk??

Lily playing. She was more interested in moving the “shells” from pool to pool than doing what she was supposed to be doing with them. What can I say? Free thinker.

Do you think that Jake was interested in the Beluga whales and the white sided dolphins that were swimming a mere foot and a half away from him?
Nope.
He was only interested in the “spinning things”.

The penguin play area was a huge hit. They enjoyed dressing up like penguins too.

The third child was uninterested. Can you tell?

It looks like we are at the fountain alone but we were not. There were hundreds of people there. I think we saw about 5 wedding parties that were there taking pictures. Lily decided that it was her duty to run up to a bride and tell her that she looked like a princess.
No.
She isn’t shy AT ALL!
After that we saw a wedding that was actually taking place there in one of the gardens. Lily was watching the processional and informed Joe that she wanted to get married right there. I looked it up. It is ONLY $5000 to get married there for 8 hours of rental time. Any additional hours are billed at $250 before 11pm. I am thinking that her dream wedding in the Rose Garden at Buckingham Fountain is a no go.
Is it weird that she is telling us what she wants for her wedding at the ripe old age of 5???!!!!!

That oh so cute little garden.

Back in 2005 with baby Lily. Same place.
Time flies.

The boys. Jake was so tired that he fell asleep while we were walking. Matthew wasn’t too sure if he liked his big brother using him for a pillow.

The girls watching the boats…sort of. Hannah was being a stinker.

The last picture of the day. She was done.
Can you tell?
She was pouting because she could.
Hello almost 2 year old!
