We had an ice cream party for Lily and her very best friends the day before we left. It was so sweet to see them all together. It made me sad that it was the last time that they would be all together like that. I am going to try and figure out what I can do for Lily to make it easier to keep in touch with them.
We took snacks to both of their schools on the last day to share with their friends. Jake is pictured above with his friend Karsyn (who informed her daddy that she was marrying Jake-love being on the other side of that one for sure!), his friend David and his friend Mason. His other really close friend Tyler was not up to taking a picture that day. He was a little sad so I didn’t want to push the issue but his mom said that she would share some that she took at their house recently of them playing. Looking forward to those!
My heart felt like it was going to break in two on Lily’s last day. Mrs. Dean, her teacher, did a little something special for her that last day. She had all the kids tell Lily what they loved most about her and why they were going to miss her so much. Seeing all those kids loving on her and hearing all of the wonderful things that they said made me realize that no matter how hard it was for me to leave everyone it was just as hard (if not harder) for the kids. It was a wonderful goodbye, all the kids had drawn pictures of themselves with her and they were all put into a book, the project that I had been working on for the class was completed and we had that in hand too.
A quick trip to the doctors office to get the kids checked out, McDonalds, pharmacy to get the antibiotics and we were done.
Goodbye Watseka. We will miss you for sure!
