Our Weekend in Review

We had a little getaway this weekend. We drove out to Minneapolis late on Thursday so that we could take advantage of every moment possible. We stayed at Josh and Ruthies that night and then headed out after breakfast on Friday. We checked into the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis. We didn't realize it at the time but it was only a few blocks from Josh and Ruthie's apartment. We dropped off our stuff and the car and headed out on foot to do some wandering and shopping. We enjoyed a quick, light lunch at Panera and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for our evening out.

When we headed back down to the car we discovered this.

While parked in the parking garage someone broke into the car and ripped out the stereo. Of course we were horrified, especially since it wasn't our car but Josh's. Anywho, we went back into the hotel and reported the theft and then headed out to dinner. It was an interesting drive since the turn signal had gotten disconnected in the robbery. We made it to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre to see a showing of I
Do, I Do. Dinner was fabulous and the show was great. I enjoyed it a lot. They did an incredible job with the performance. I actually felt uncomfortable during an argument they were having because they did such a great job selling it. It felt very real. :)

After the show we headed back to the hotel to drop off the car and then went out again and walked around awhile before stopping somewhere to get a quick appetizer. When we got back to the hotel late that night the manager was there and offered us a voucher for breakfast on the house.
The next morning we enjoyed a FABULOUS breakfast at Taxii (the bistro in the hotel). They had an amazing buffet.

The ceiling in the hotel was so cool. I kept staring up at it. I am sure that people were wondering if there was something wrong with me.

We headed out to the Mall of America to wander in the warmth and then shared an appetizer at Ruby Tuesday for lunch. We had a little wait and I was tired so I sat on the ground outside of the restaurant and people watched. It is amazing how many people were wandering around. There was even an occasional traffic jam.

We headed over to IKEA after the Mall and wandered there for awhile. It is amazing how quickly you can walk through the store when you don't have kids hanging on you. It was fun to see all of the different things. The 2011 catalog is FULL of items that I love.
Josh and Ruthie brought the kids to IKEA to play so we met up with them there and then headed to dinner at the Taste of India (our fave MN indian food). So tasty! We are never disappointed when we go there.

We headed back to Josh and Ruthie's, gathered our stuff and headed out. It was such a nice getaway. The kids had a great time and said that they were excited to do it again sometime. They enjoyed their sleepover a lot. :)
Thank you everyone that helped to make this possible. We appreciate everything that everyone did for us.
