Project Life-Week 29

Sunday- We headed out of town with the youth group to go to the AALC Youth Conference. I picked up Joe's mom yesterday in Des Moines and we got her accustomed to the kids a little bit last night. It didn't take them long at all to be completely comfortable with her. Matthew was the one I was worried about but he took right to her! :)

Monday- We spent the night in Grand Island,Nebraska and then hit the road early-ish. It was a lot of driving but we pulled into the YMCA around 3:00. Just in time for registration and getting settled before dinner and the first evening session.

Tuesday- Bill Yonker was our speaker. He is a pastor in the greater Chicago area and VERY enthusiastic. The kids all LOVED him! We also had a group go white water rafting today. They had a great time and all but one ended up in the river. :)

Wednesday- We had sessions all day and then during the free time some of us went up the mountain to go horseback riding. It was pretty fun, an hour ride and we were done. I was feeling a little sore after the ride. We also had a very powerful communion service in the evening.

Thursday- The kids LOVED Swen and Dean! They were rocking out during the openings that the brothers did and then died laughing during Storytime with Swen.

Friday- We got up in the wee hours of the morning to hike up to Bible Point. Oh my word! 4:30 came really early but the view of the sun coming up over the mountains was uh-may-zing! We had an adventure going back down the hill and trying to get ourselves ready for the trip home. We had packed the night before so it was pretty quick and painless until we discovered that there was a key missing. After some panic we found it and then went to the last session, lunch and said goodbye. We only made a few stops on the first leg of the trip and got to Lincoln where we spent the night. It was a very long day!

Saturday- We got on the road early, around 6:15 and got back to the church by 11. It was nice to get out and stretch. We all said goodbye and headed home to our respective homes. I was so excited to see the kids and Laurie. We had a lovely lunch at Applebees and then rushed home because Matt and Christie came for the weekend. It was a really fun visit as usual. We enjoyed hearing about their vacation to California and playing cards until the wee hours of the morning.
