Project Life-Week 46

Sunday: Fun times with Sarah and Gracie! Interesting sidenote... that adorable baby with cheeks to die for is my baby cousin. Yep. She is younger than all my children. I am the oldest of 28 grandchildren and Gracie is the youngest. :) Looking forward to more from you guys Sarah!

Monday: This face (along with the hands, feet, belly, EVERYTHING) is the reason that most surfaces in my house are sticky.

Tuesday: Finally! Everything except for clean-up is done. :) Also, the day of the stomach pains that made me feel like I was dying. Later, passing out and fever. Awesome.

Wednesday: Going through the tubs of clothes in the basement looking for winter stuff for the kids. Found it all. Also found out that I have appendicitis and spent the night in the hospital - minus one organ.

Thursday: This is a cell phone picture that the nurse took for me. I sent it to the kids. Lily and Hannah insisted on sending some stuffed animals to keep me company so I got them out, we took a picture, and I went back to sleep for pretty much the rest of the day. Joe came to pick me up around 2:30 and that's all she wrote.

Friday: Another cell phone pic. The first try at the IV insertion. Not successful in anything except giving me a gigantic bruise. The two little purple spots were where the nurse pinched me. Awesome.

Saturday: Chocolate chip pancakes. Matthew loved them.

Pinterest Project #4

I found this on Pinterest some time ago. I wanted to get it done before Lily lost a tooth but of course that was not meant to be. She had been insisting on a pillow for her tooth so that it doesn't get lost under her pillow. Anything to make the job of the tooth fairy easier right?? Right.

So, here it is. My version.

It was super simple. I just freehanded the pieces for the face. Used some of my fave heat n bond and then ironed it all together.  Once it was all on there I went around all the pieces with my machine just to make sure that they weren't going anywhere. We will only be pulling this out when there is a tooth missing. The mouth is a pocket for the tooth and then the money. The back is just super simple.

This project took less time than the wreath. Crazy!

Project Life-Week 45

Sunday: Church with Larry, Shutterfly House Party

Monday: Lily showing her skills with the vacuum. So glad that she loves to do it!

Tuesday: Door construction.

Wednesday: First snow of the year!

Thursday: Lunch with the Dunkly family, the Vera family, the Brokenshire family and Scott at Pizza Ranch. It was all California up in there!!

Friday: More construction.

Saturday: Matthew was so tired that he fell asleep at the table. Loud noises and all.

Fun week! Linking up with NaptimeMomTog and The Mom Creative. It's a little late but better late than never. :)

Construction Drama

This has been a really long road for what seems to be a pretty small job. The job started on November 8th. It began with tearing out the sliding glass door between the dining room and the three season room.  As soon as they pulled out the door I immediately began thinking how nice it would be to have that be an open space instead of putting another door it. If the three season room was more insulated and more of a permanent addition I think I would have been super happy to have the work end here.

Anyway, they took the existing smaller sliding glass door out and cut about 5 inches of the wall out to make room for the new door. We ran into a snafu when they got the door in and found out it was the wrong door. It opened on the wrong side so the right door was located and installed the next day. All the trim work was replaced after that and some prep work for the new driveway and sidewalk was started.

All the demo. They also removed the old windows for the basement so all the shelves and paneling came off of the wall in the basement, making a huge disaster down there.

Then we waited. And waited. And waited.

They poured the concrete.

We did a little handprint action in one of the corners with the kids. I will have to snap a picture of that at a later date.

So, how long did the whole process take? Well, it all started on the 8th and the guy came yesterday to clean up the site and to put the paneling back up in the basement. That is a total of 10 days. In construction days that may actually be awesome. I have no idea. All I know is that with both of our doors out of commission life was a little awkward.

I am totally thrilled with the beautiful new sidewalk that has made our 12 in tall front step legal at a more reasonable 7 inches. The step on the side of the house is gone now too. Joe isn't entirely sure that he loves that but I am sure it will grow on us over time.

So, all in all? So glad that it is all done. It all looks beautiful. I will have to get a picture of the new door at some point as well. .

A fun visit.

We had a really fun visit with our friend Larry from Watseka. He is a Thrivent rep and he was on his way to a conference in Minneapolis. He decided to do a little detour so that he could come and stay the night with us. We are so thankful that he was able to do that! What a blessing friends are!

Shutterfly House Party

I know my love for Shutterfly has been documented numerous times here on the blog and in person if you talk to me at all so you can imagine my excitement when I was selected to host a Shutterfly Photo Book House Party.  I loooooooove photobooks and love nothing more than to share the love with friends and family and total strangers even.

Here are a few pictures from the evening.

So excited that my aunt Julie and cousin Bethany could be here. It was a lot of fun being able to visit with them.

A friend from church, Val. She did a book from their summer vacay to Mexico! Fun!

Amy, lending a helping hand. It's a little blurry. Oh well.

Amy is a friend from church as well (our babysitting lifesaver!!) and Beth is a friend from California who is also a pastor's wife here in town. Ironic?? Yes! They both did books with summer pictures as well.

Rachael, daughter of Amy. She is also a huge help with the kids and a lot of fun to have around. She is a really good sport. She even spent the night with my girls once! She worked a book that is all encompassing of a teenage girls life. Super cute! She used the embellishments as well.

Bridget and Rachael are besties... Bridget did a book about her time at a leadership retreat/conference type thing. I wish that I had done stuff like this when I was in high school.

Jamie and Carrie. Jamie is a friend from church and mother to Bailey (the love of Lily's life). Carrie is a neighbor and mother to Ethan, Eric, and Collin (the loves of Lily's life). I know. It is a problem.

I received the little stand for a photobook from the party pack as well as all of the promo codes for the photobooks and holiday cards. They also threw in some balloons which the kids were super excited about.  Somehow they didn't make it into any pictures.

We had some really tasty snacks... 7 layer dip with chips, fruit, and apple crescent rolls.

This is a glimpse at the insanity that is my life. I love them so much, as do the kids. I have had to tape a few pages back in due to some overzealous page turning. :) It's all good though. I would rather have to run damage control than not have them for the kids to look at.

Thank you Shutterfly and House Party for the opportunity to host this super fun party! I loved it!

I am overwhelmed today.

We have heard of two little girls this week that are in desperate need of prayer.

Jersey is in the hospital. She is a little girl in Lily's class at church and goes to the same school. She just had a kidney removed due to a cancerous "Wilms" tumor. They are waiting for the results of a biopsy of her lungs. There is a possibility that the lesions that the doctors saw in the lungs could be viral. If it is "Wilms" it will put her cancer at stage IV. So much need for prayer for her and her family.
Her mom was waiting to tell her about the cancer until the results of all the tests were in but Jersey overheard the doctor talking and knows now. She has taken the news really well and has a very positive outlook.
There is a facebook event set up "Prayers for Jersey". Please feel free to join and get updates through that.

Maci is in the NICU. She was born very early at only 26 weeks. She is only 1 lb 6 oz. We are praying for her as well. She is so tiny! Her mom had her water break 4 weeks ago and they were told that she would probably be born within a few days and would likely not make it. She held in there for 4 weeks!

I just want to ask for you all to pray for these girls. Pray for healing, for strength for their families.

Now, I am going to go hug my kids.

Hello Mr FedEx Man

I was super excited to try out the Memory Keeper from Paper Coterie thanks to a promo on The Mom Creative site. I wasn't sure what it was going to look like but I have to say that I LOVE it!

It is a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be. It stands up beautifully on flat surfaces. I am looking forward to using it to hold all the little memorabilia from this year that doesn't end up in Project Life.
Totally worth it! Best part?? It only cost me shipping.

Sunday- Fun time at the trunk and treat. It was freezing!

Monday- Halloween. The kids got way too much candy. It was really fun to walk around and see everyone's costumes.

Tuesday- The first official Girl Scout meeting of the year. Yep, little late. The girls still had a lot of fun!

Wednesday- Finally finished the wreath. It only took forever.

Thursday- Matthew the menace. He pushes the chair over and organizes the pantry. True. No pulling things out, he likes to line everything up in nice little rows.

Friday- Working hard to get the boys room ready for the bunk beds. They are so excited!

Saturday- Love this stuff! Exciting time of year! :)

Linking up with NaptimeMomTog and The Mom Creative. You know what to do! Lots of great inspiration.
