Project Life 2013 | Week 52

Spending part of Christmas Eve with Gramma putting up some more decorations on the tree.

Finishing touches on the long awaited stocking.

Quite possibly one of my favorite "new" traditions. Homemade tamales on Christmas Eve. So tasty!

Just a quick photo-op before Joe headed back to church for the second service.

Christmas morning. Excited to open the Santa presents.

They were all so excited to tear into everything.

A long coveted item. Thank you to the godmother! Somehow she always chooses the most perfect gift.

Laurens gift this year was a hodge podge of all kinds of miscellaneous things off of her Christmas list. Bible, birthday Oreos, her very own nailpolish... I couldn't get the Kindle Fire HDX for her. It just wasn't in the budget. ;)

Uncle Matt showing her how to play on her new DS.

Reading, there was some question as to whether there was anyone listening while Gramma was reading but there was much protesting in the land whenever she stopped.

Nighty-night everyone.

The day after Christmas. The toy mayhem.

The big boys took all the kids sledding in the afternoon. Apparently there was a slight mishap involving sliding right under a random car. Ooops.

Funny story, Hannah was asleep in the car when they came back from sledding (the hill was probably only a mile away). Joe got her out of the van and instead of walking up the driveway into the house she just lay down in the yard and went back to sleep in the snow. For real. You can't make this stuff up.

Christie instigating fights with the kids. She ended up feeling the wrath. We (the big boys and wives) went out to Indian and then took a trip to Target while the kids stayed home with Gramma and Papa. Such a fun night out. Thank you!

The mini pictures.

A big thanks to Matt for a lot of the pictures in this post. So happy he took his camera while they were sledding to get some of those winners! ;)
That's a wrap. Excited for the 2014!

Project Life 2013 | Week 51

The kids Christmas program at the church. They all did really well. Matthew was a sheep, Hannah was an angel, Jake was a wise man, and Lily was a reader.

She did really well considering she was feeling awful after her bout of whatever bug she had.

After the Christmas program we drove around a little looking at Christmas lights. This house was only a few blocks from us and the tree in their front yard is visible from a distance because it is so GIGANTIC!

Matthew decided that he wasn't a morning person. It lasted for the day. He was back to normal the next day.

Lily had a presentation at school about Christmas in another country. She chose Bangladesh. We did the posterboard, she wrote her speech/essay and dressed up. We also took in a sampling of food from the Indian restaurant in town. It was a huge hit.

Friday- the last day of school before Christmas break was cancelled for the big kids. They were all sad that they hadn't given their teachers their presents so we ran around and did deliveries to their homes. Fortunately Matthew's teachers were there for the afternoon class so we caught them there.

We "get" to have little Cindy Lou for the Christmas break. She is the class pet in Hannah's class. She is the tiniest little hamster (Robo Dwarf) that I have ever seen. We may have mice that are bigger. ;)

Some extras for the week. Christmas program pictures. I know the one of Jake is really blurry but it is the only one of him in his costume that he was so excited about so it gets to stay.

Huge news. Lily finally got her hair chopped off. Totally her choice. I didn't say anything to the hair dresser. Lily told her what she wanted and came out with this haircut. I was surprised to see how wavy it was once it wasn't so long. She LOVES it.

Of course as soon as Hannah saw that Lily went short she decided she wanted to as well so she got back up in the chair after getting her trim and got a few more inches cut off. They are both super cute with their new 'dos.

Project Life 2013 | Week 50

Sunday. We did our family pictures finally. After they were done we went to get "coffee" with our friends that do them for us. Lily used to go to school with their boys so getting them together occasionally is always fun times.

Monday. Annual trip to the dermatologist. Gotta love skin.

Tuesday. The kids Christmas program at school. They were awesome.

Wednesday. Joe bought this for our dining room. If you have ever eaten a meal with our family you have probably heard us sing this as our table prayer. So fitting.

Thursday. The sky! End of story.

Friday. I made Oreo Truffles for the cookie walk at school on Saturday. Lots and lots of Oreo Truffles. Lots.

Saturday. Hurray! We got to skype/facebook chat with the Wagners in Africa. Yes, Africa. When did the world become so small?? I can't believe the advances that make things like this possible. What a gift!
